If you could say one thing to your teachers, what would it be? đź‘€

Sometimes, all young people need is permission to be heard.

In this activity, students were invited to write whatever they wanted their teachers to know. There were no right or wrong answers, just an honest, respectful space to share their thoughts, feelings, hopes, and requests.

Together, they created a collage of words and messages that reflected what matters most to them.

Some wrote:

Please listen to us.

Don’t always assume it’s us.

We need more help.

Give us time to talk about friendship breakups.

Ask us how we’re really doing.

What stood out wasn’t criticism, it was connection. Young people aren’t asking for perfection. They’re asking to feel seen, understood, and supported.

At the same time, it’s important to recognise that teachers carry an enormous responsibility. They are balancing the needs of many students while working within systems that don’t always provide the time, resources, or specialist support they need.

That’s why we believe these conversations should go both ways.

Just as we create spaces for young people to share honestly, we should also create spaces where teachers can express what they need to better support the children in their care. When both voices are heard with empathy, we move away from blame and towards understanding.

Because when students and teachers feel listened to, everybody benefits.
